Ueki Mihoko (Ueki): Japan is known as one of the cleanest countries in the world. Even the public toilets maintain a higher standard of hygiene. However, the use of public toilets in Japan is limited because of the stereotype that they are dark, dirty, smelly, and scary. To dispel these misconceptions, The Nippon Foundation decided to renovate public toilets. The Nippon Foundation has always dedicated itself to improving society through various projects, supporting people with disabilities, areas affected by disaster, and children.
