Tips and tasks for the November–December garden

LITTLE AND OFTEN

Garden gluts are no fun – and finding space in an overfull garden is just plain stressful. Whether you’re growing veges, annual herbs or flowers, sow just a tiny pinch of seed every 3–4 weeks to keep the harvest coming on-stream. And by sowing into seed trays of organic seed-raising mix, and pricking out seedlings into individual pots of compost, your plants won’t take up any garden space until you’re ready to transplant them into their permanent home.

When choosing what annual seeds to sow, consider cut-and-come-again varieties to save resowing so often. These include veges: non-heading lettuce, amaranth, rocket, and Tasty Tendrils
