To be named Neverdie by your parents means you will have to grow up to be determined and never give up or losing hope in life, whatever obstacles are placed in your path.
That is exactly what Lamontville Golden Arrows midfielder Ntsako Neverdie Makhubela has been doing for all his football career.
“It is a unique name that I was given by my father,” the player explains, adding how proud he was to carry it.
Though he has only completed his first season in the PSL, Makhubela has stood out in providing support in midfield after winning over coach Steve Komphela.
The 26-year-old was born in the mining town of Carletonville, west of Johannesburg, but grew up in Diepkloof, Soweto, attending school at Diepdale Secondary and Orlando High.
He went through his early football development at Sizwe Aces, and then Marks Park Rangers and Crusaders, before being recruited to the Orlando Pirates reserve team playing under Nathi Masike just prior to completing his Matric.
“After I was promoted to the Pirates first team, I asked to be loaned out to the First Division,” Makhubela
