The maturity with which Goodman Mosele plays in the Baroka FC midfield has always defied the fact that he is a youngster who only celebrated his 21st birthday in November.
Just the way he holds up play when the need arises, destroys, intercepts, slows down and distributes the ball with the fluency of a veteran is charming on the eye from this midfielder.
From making his debut as a 17-year-old schoolboy in August 2017, Mosele had piled up 66 appearances in the three and a half years since Kgoloko Thobejane handed him his first game in the Telkom Knockout as the club won its first piece of silverware in topflight football and then moved on to pick up the 2019/20 PSL Young Player of the Season.
Rarely do footballers in the domestic game enjoy such a remarkable rise before they come of age, so it is understandable that Mosele is amazed as well.
“I don’t believe that I am the one who is now where I am because I never thought of myself playing at this level by now with as much experience and game-time as I have to date,” Mosele says.
