KICK OFF: Bantu, first things first, how did you get to Sweden with IK Brage?
Bantu Mzwakali: There’s a guy named Raymond Pienaar, he fixed things for me. He’s got a good connection here in Sweden with some of the sporting directors at a few clubs. He’s from Gugulethu and I had a chat with him a long time ago. He asked me if I was interested in trying my luck in Sweden, or one of the Scandinavian countries. It was at the time when I came back from Wits. But when I was set to move I never had a visa. So he advised me to stay at Cape Umoya United for six months because the transfer window was about to close. While I was there, he fixed everything I needed, invitation letters and so on, while I kept fit in the NFD.
What’s the experience been like in comparison to your time with Ajax, Chippa and Cape Umoya?
There’s a big difference. When I was at Ajax, they would prepare certain meals for us before and after training, and there were guys like Nathan Paulse, I would look at him, the way he eats, carries himself and rests. The typical South African footballer doesn’t
