KICK OFF: You have a very interesting story … can you explain how your career started and who inspired this journey?

Yusuf Maart: To be honest, where I come from it’s hard to be a professional footballer, you need to work hard, keep focussed and make sure your head is in it. If you can keep that vision in your mind, it’s going to happen. You need to have role-models and the people that inspired me were the ones I watched on TV. I watched lots of Premier League [growing up] and I thought, why can’t I do this too at the end of the day? That’s what made me the person I am today, I watched plenty of football and it sparked the dream that I can be that person. Dreams come true if you want it really.

Did you start your football journey in Atlantis and when did you realise that you could take this further and be a professional?
