RECOVER LIKE A PROFESSIONAL

As a pro, it’s easy. It’s your job. It’s not just the training but also your recovery, diet, hydration, massage, sleep. So much sleep. The good stuff. Do I take a day off every week? No. Maybe once a month or in race week. I’m a believer of active recovery – of getting out for an easy 60min spin.

Tips? A good warm-down’s vital; keep hydrated; get some food in asap, preferably high in protein, especially if it’s been a big session. A hot Epsom salt bath can do wonders, too, even if it just makes you sit still and chill for 20mins. Many pros will use recovery boots [like those from Normatec]. Again, a great way to do nothing; I’ve even used them flying back from an Ironman. They’re not cheap but save on extra massage. They’re damn convenient, too – you can do your next work Zoom call with them on. No one would know!

"What The F*** Is That?!"
