ARE MOGOENG’S CHRISTIAN BELIEFS SUPERIOR?

The legitimacy of our judiciary is inherently dependent on every judicial officer conducting themselves in accordance with the foundational values of our constitutional democracy and putting the public interest above personal interest. The public the judiciary serves must never doubt that judicial officers respect them and the office they hold.

Once a judicial officer crosses the line and conducts him or herself in a manner that creates a perception of self-interest and puts his or her personal interest above public interest, the core values of our judiciary are shaken. It’s one thing to hold a personal view and another to propagate that view in public.
