KAFFE FASSETT’S QUILTS IN BURANO
VENETIAN DREAMING
The colourful landscape of the Venetian island of Burano is the back drop for Kaffe Fassett’s new book Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts in Burano. Its publication couldn’t come at a better time after a long spring/summer of isolation. The custom of painting the buildings in different colours is a centuries old tradition on this magical island. Together with the vibrant painted shutters, candy striped awnings and pots full of flowers and greenery, it’s easy to see why Kaffe felt he’d “died and gone to heaven” when researching locations to photograph the new book.
“I only hope you feel a fraction of the thrill that we felt every hour we spent on this magical island,” said Kaffe.
