A HUGE oil spill near a lagoon off the south-eastern coast of Mauritius spells deep trouble for the environment.
A Japanese ship ran aground here in July and started leaking oil, turning the usually turquoise ocean black.
Experts estimate between 800 and 1 200 tonnes of fuel spilt into the sea in an area close to two protected marine ecosystems and a marine nature reserve.
