AVOCADOS ON TREND

ccording to Toronto-based food marketing agency THP’s 2020 Flavor & Trend Forecast, Michelin-starred restaurants around the world are increasingly using traditional ingredients, particularly from Central and South America. The SA Avocado Growers’ Association has taken its cue from this prediction and is celebrating the ancient origins of South African avocados with a nod to Mexico as the original source. The Aztecs apparently believed the fruit gave supernatural strength to whoever ate it. The Mayans also believed it held mystical powers, calling it the fruit of the gods. From nachos and tacos to enchiladas and burritos, you simply need to add an avo to capture the true taste of Mexico.
