Throughout her 68-year reign, the Queen has spent summer at the royal retreat deemed to be her favourite place on earth – her Balmoral estate in Scotland.
While the coronavirus outbreak had some thinking this year might see her break with tradition, last Tuesday the monarch travelled to the Highlands, with the Duke of Edinburgh – and their pet dorgis Candy and Vulcan – by her side.
She can now enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the magnificent turreted castle on the banks of the River Dee and a much-needed break after a challenging few months.
