After she shielded within its historic walls for the duration of lockdown, HELLO! can reveal that, in an unparalleled move, the Queen will make Windsor Castle her royal HQ for the foreseeable future.

The 94-year-old monarch, who is on her annual summer holiday at Balmoral, usually returns to her administrative base at Buckingham Palace after her break in Scotland. However, during the coronavirus pandemic and while the Palace is undergoing extensive renovations, the 11th-century Windsor fortress will become her main residence until the threat of infection has passed.

“This is unprecedented because Covid-19 is unprecedented,” Dickie Arbiter, her former press spokesman and author of On Duty with the Queen tells us. “The situation has created this anomaly. The Windsor bubble has already been tried and tested for four months, so it makes absolute sense to return there while Buckingham Palace is being worked on.
