When the market for sports cars boomed in the 1950s, notably in the USA but then all around the world, several British car makers saw a bandwagon, jumped on it and made a lot of money for their bosses and shareholders. Think of MG, then Jaguar, then Austin-Healey, then Triumph... but not the Rootes Group. Why?
