THIS hot rod is about two things: the engine and the paint colour but its story began way back in the early ‘80s when owner Murray Helm was a teenage rodder in Papakura Rod & Custom Club. His hot rod in those days was a ’46 Ford sedan with a tilt front and a ($200) fully reconditioned 8BA flathead under the hood. Those hot rod days ended when he left NZ and went overseas
