1947 CHEVROLET DISC-BRAKE SWAP

Q:I am working on a 1947 Chevrolet Stylemaster two-door and I am trying to come up with a spindle interchange to facilitate both disc brake and five-lug rotors, instead of the original six-lug drum hubs. Any help would be fantastic.

A: Your cheapest way out is to purchase an EC-706 adapter kit from Chevs of the 40’s and use the common calipers, five-lug rotors, and brake pads from the 1973-’77 GM A-body, 1970-’77 F-body, or 1976 Cadillac Seville, which you can buy at any local parts store. This should not run you more than $500 said and done, except for caliper core charges, which you would have to eat. Those charges could cost you an additional $100.
