    The new normal, living with the coronavirus and phased lockdown. Call it what you want, but the COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc worldwide.

    South Africa went into lockdown fairly early, but as of the time of going to print and the weather getting colder still, the country has not yet reached predicted peak levels of infection and death.

    Positive cases in South Africa also tipped the 220 000 mark in early July, the 13th highest in the world, with a tragic 3 602 deaths, but a reassuring 106 842 recoveries.
