My husband is a paramedic and I admit that I’m sometimes irritated by his ever-changing shift schedule as it makes planning ahead tricky. However, the words of Kate Nixon – “find joy in the variety” (Family Ties, May) – made me appreciate the spontaneity of our lifestyle. Appreciating. Spare a thought for those struggling in these trying times, but relish living in ‘the lucky country’ – we are indeed fortunate that we have four walls where we can enjoy the things that make us truly happy.
