Pick Me Up!

BACK TO LIFE

Climbing out of bed at around 7am, I left my husband, Juris, 46, to sleep peacefully. Only, just as I was about to leave the bedroom, he started to make these strange, loud noises.

At first I thought he was snoring, but it wasn’t quite that.

‘Juris, are you OK?’ I asked, before suddenly the noise stopped completely. Switching on the light, I couldn’t hear a thing and his face turned blue.

I knew he wasn’t breathing and before panic set in, I sprang into action.

Grabbing my mobile, I quickly dialled 112 for emergency ambulance control. ‘My husband has stopped breathing in his sleep,’ I told the operator. ‘What do I do?’

‘Sanita, I need you to be calm,’ the woman told
