Safe water on board

It’s not often in the UK that we worry about drinking water, but this is an area likely to come under greater scrutiny for many boat owners in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis. The two main problem areas are cross-contamination from marina hoses and storing water in tanks for long periods.

In the past a widely adopted easy route to clean drinking water was to use bottled water. But it’s expensive, awkward to stow and becomes increasingly impractical the longer you spend aboard. Besides, all the plastic associated with bottled water is a disaster for the environment.
