Swinging the golf club, I slammed the ball as hard as I could.
‘Great shot!’ my grandad Innes cheered.
I was 14, loved a day with Papa, as I called him, on the golf course.
He always cheered me on at hockey matches, too.
Though it sounds like I was pretty fit, truth was, exercise couldn’t counteract the calories I was consuming.
Working evenings in the chippy, I’d demolish a large portion before gobbling my mum Aileen’s dinner at home.
