ISLE OF MAN SC

Right up there among the best of them, among the cream of the crop, is the Isle of Man Scooter Club. First established in 1957, the club was formed by local scooterists to help with the organisation and running of the then newly introduced Isle of Man scooter week. Members of the Isle of Man Scooter Club were co-opted into the Isle of Man Scooter Association, which also included local dignitaries in its number. Isle of Man motorcycle TT had been running for 50 years when the scooter week was introduced, reflecting the sales of new scooters eclipsing the sales of new motorcycles in the latter part of the '50s. Scooter sport was growing in popularity in the UK, albeit there were relatively few dedicated scooter-only events. Invariably scooters would be competing in various disciplines alongside motorcycles at all manner of motorsport events
