Candy-man carnage

Just south of Moscow sits an unremarkable, small yellowbrick building.

From the outside, it’s nothing of note. But inside, it’s responsible for producing some of Russia’s most beloved children’s confectionery.

It’s a real-life Willy Wonka factory – sweets, jellies and chocolate treats are just some of the goodies that it has created every day since it opened in 1999.

More than 400 staff worked to create the magic. And the man in charge was Ilya Averyanov.
