AN EYE ON BALI

On the final day of a fashion shoot on a deserted beach in Nusa Penida, an island southeast of Bali, photographer Isabella Ginanneschi and the crew packed up later than hoped. “It was getting dark,” she remembers, “the currents were visibly dangerous, and the swell was growing stronger and stronger. We had to get back to our base in Lembongan and had a lot to take back on the boat, like the photo equipment, the wardrobe and make-up cases for the photo-shoot. And most of the twelve Balinese crew didn’t know how to swim.”
