Chacha Binahati

I was born on Bangka island, east of Sumatra, which is the 9th largest island in Indonesia. I am the second of four children.

Our family lived in the capital of the island, Pangkal Pinang, because my father worked for a state-owned tin mining company. We didn’t leave the island until he got a new position in the company, which was to be based out of Jakarta, but it took us a while to get there. First, my father moved my sister to a high school in Jakarta, then I was transferred to Jakarta after middle school, while he continued to live and work in Bangka
