■ As you probably guessed, the scheduled April 3 Hilo Trollers’ captain’s meeting was cancelled due to COVID-19. The May 3 tournament was also cancelled by the Hilo Trollers’ Board of Directors. The board will determine when the fishing season and monthly tournaments will resume. Captains will be notified and look for updates in future issues of HAWAII FISHING NEWS.

When you are launching and recovering your boat, you may be able to keep some social distance (except with your crew). It is, however, quite impractical for check-in and weigh-in crews to maintain adequate social distance, and all gatherings like those at weigh-ins should be avoided. Some captains and crew may have lost jobs and lack the resources needed to participate. Our hearts go out to them, and to everyone in our community that is suffering. Stay home; stay safe.
