Traditionally, Smith’s had operated conventional chain lift skip loaders and roll-on-off Dinosaur collection systems to collect waste from its customers. Due to the increase of both high density and volumous wastes being generated by its customers, the company decided to introduce rear end loader collection systems in 1981.
The first rear end loader that Smith’s purchased was a Scapa Engineering 25 cubic yard Garwood LP900 unit. The unit came with a five-tonne skip lift
