THE INSIDE STORY
KATIE PIPER LEARNING TO LOVE FAMILY LIFE IN LOCKDOWN
As a busy mum, charity campaigner, model and presenter, Katie Piper is used to juggling responsibilities, and now she has added a new string to her bow – being a teacher and playmate to daughters Belle, six, and Penelope, two.
“These are the golden years and they go so quickly,” Katie tells HELLO! of family life with husband Richard Sutton (below). “The girls have never had both parents so hands-on, so they’re enjoying having us around. I feel much closer to them than I did a week ago.
“We’re doing home-cooked meals, arts and crafts and games in the garden. I’ve been learning so much from home schooling Belle, from facts about butterflies to the story behind the Easter bunny.
“My husband is painting, ripping up floorboards and doing the garden, so the to-do list is getting ticked off. I’m not sure I want to come out of isolation and start getting up at 5am and commuting again.”
Katie, 36, and her builder husband have been home in East London for the past few weeks and both have had to make adjustments. Katie has set up a studio to record her podcast Extraordinary People, which featuresprofessional Kevin Clifton and Denise Fergus, whose toddler son James Bulger was murdered in 1993.
