‘I tell Tom he’s Wigan’s answer to Joe Wicks’

Every Thursday evening, Catherine Tyldesley is outside her Cheshire home clapping in thanks to NHS workers, joined by her husband Tom Pitfield and their five-year-old son Alfie.

“We have been extremely loud, banging pots and pans, showing our support for how wonderful they all are,” says the actress, whose praise for those on the front line extends to teachers, too.

“Like our NHS heroes, teachers deserve a huge pay rise. Alfie’s teacher has been phenomenal, still there for us every day online and with lesson plans for the class.

“Alfie will happily do his work for his teacher, but when it comes to Mummy it’s a different thing.and !’”
