The Cost of Carbon
There’s no standard price for a metric ton of CO2. Instead, the cost per credit often includes the inherent expense of each project, the wholesale price set by the project developer, the markup levied by the retailer, and the cost for any additional certifications or inspections. Still, for high-quality credits consumers can expect to pay on average about $15 per metric ton of CO2.
