AFTER the coldest winter in 21 years, spring has finally arrived in Palmer, Alaska, US. We still have 2ft–3ft of snow in our yard, but our day length is now 14 hours and, this afternoon, the temperature was almost 50°F (10°C)! This week, I will plant my tomatoes and Brussels sprouts.
