He convert...view moreAlan Wilson is Director, Special Projects at The Alan Turing Institute, and was its founding Chief Executive. His background lies in mathematics and theoretical physics. He converted to geography and the social sciences and for over five decades, his research has centred on the science of cities and regions, and the application of that science in urban planning. He has held appointments in Oxford, Leeds and UCL, and has been a university vice-chancellor. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and the Royal Society and was knighted in 2001 for services to higher education.view less
