We caught up with him for a chat.
ST: WHERE ARE YOU CURRENTLY AND WHAT IS THE SITUATION WITH THE VIRUS? AH: I am in the Czech Republic, and at the moment we have a complete lock down, we’re not allowed to leave our homes. It’s actually pretty good (comparatively). We have very few cases and zero deaths at the moment and we were the first (European) country to go to these measures.
I wonder the how the situation would be if other countries had done as China did earlier. It would have taken only the whole world to stop for 21 days and everything would have been fine (I think); but every country took their chances and are paying for it long term now.
We can all bitch and whine about China, but to take a place with 11 million in people (Wuhan) from widespread contamination to containment in 7 weeks; full respect to them for that achievement.
But people are selfish and blind a little. They hope it won’t come. Now it’s easy for China to take such measures because they are a communist country and they respect the law (or at least follow it).
I grew up in Hong Kong and go there every year. It’s just normal for some people to walk around with a mask. That alone does wonders. Here in EU you are looked down on if you wear a mask. But in China, everyone was wearing them and limiting the spread. Here in EU, we have lockdown in countries and they are not taking
