    Dr. Ryan Padgett is back home in Seattle after a 24-day hospitalization for COVID-19. He was one of the first American health care workers to develop a life-threatening case of the disease.

    In mid-March, he was a cautionary tale for medical workers: an unnamed doctor "in his 40s" with a case of COVID-19 so bad, he was near death.
