Diary of an EARLY RISER

My husband, Pascal, 58, and I have seven dogs and their dawn chorus at 6am gets us up quicker than any alarm clock. The first hour of my day is spent walking and feeding them, before breakfast over the morning papers, and I’m in my home office by 8.30am.

But by the time I’ve finished work at 6pm, gone out with the pack again, sorted dinner and done the usual chores, there’s zero time for myself, and if I’m busy, my yoga session is the first to get dropped from my to-do list.

Finding some ‘me time’

Which is why I’m fascinated by women who talk up theeditor Anna Wintour famously plays tennis at 5.45am, while many of the world’s most powerful CEOs are up before dawn. Curious to see whether it’d be the solution to getting some me time and feeling healthier, I decided to set my alarm clock to 5am for a week.
