    Hull Ultimate Twenty cartridges

    We tested these cartridges through a number of guns over the season. They were put through side-by-sides and over-andunders; used on driven and walked-up days. Our panel of five included both men and women of different shapes and sizes.

    First we tested the cartridges for perceived recoil. After all, many people use a 20-bore because of the relatively low recoil. As you would expect, recoil was less noticeable on the over-and-unders because of the guns’ extra mass. Nevertheless, most of the side-by-side users said the recoil was well managed with this cartridge; only one said the recoil was a little sharp for him.
