A chat with the men and women at the heart of the shooting industry
When Arthur Ellwood, owner of Gamekeep, announced his retirement earlier this year, there was only one company that he could entrust with the Bird Puller brand — Collins Nets. Over the past eight years, manager Chris Warne has been helping to establish the Bridport-based business as a one-stop shop for gamekeepers across the country.
As business decisions go, the addition of Bird Puller was a no-brainer for Collins Nets. “The brand is quite iconic, with the winking pheasant,” explains Chris. “It’s cheesy, but gamekeepers like it and we sell a hell of a lot of it.” Bird seed is only one area that Collins Nets has diversified into in the past decade, moving (as its name suggests) from netting into all manner of country
