OUR KIND OF GIRL Laura Wells

THE FIRST TIME marine biologist and model Laura Wells experienced eco-despair was on a trip to Hawaii. “We were on this stunning beach watching sea turtles forage, and just two metres from the shore the sand was covered in plastic,” says the 32-year-old from Sydney’s beachside Coogee. “I started to wonder if what I’m doing [to protect our oceans] even matters.” Despite these moments of self-doubt, Wells isn’t one to back down from a fight.
