WWE Network re-do?

WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon made a bombshell statement during his first-quarter conference call with investors, indicating WWE could sell off pay-per-view rights to other distributors of streaming content.

The bottom line: Next year’s Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series may not be on the WWE Network, at least not for $9.99.

McMahon was sending the signal that he’s open to making a deal to sell off the rights for its major pay-per-views, potentially forcing current Network subscribers to purchase yet another subscription for those events.

Said McMahon, “We can continue on as we are now with an enhancement of a free tier and a more enhanced paid tier … We also have an option—I mean, right now, there’s no better time to exercise the selling of our rights to all the majors. And quite frankly,
