POTENCY POWER

novel phytocannabinoid, (-)-trans-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THCP), was recently discovered along with its corresponding cannabidiol homologue cannabidiphorol (CBDP), according to a. A team of Italian researchers discovered the new cannabinoids, with THCP reportedly having 30 times the potency of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). But since the findings were published, experts have pointed out that THCP may not necessarily be as potent as scientists initially speculated, as the Italian team only measured the efficacy of THCP compared to THC in mice. The way that the compound reacts in the human anatomy may prove to be a little more complicated and warrant more research. Additionally, with the evidence of the potency of THCP, it helps explain why THC levels don’t always correspond to the level of the high that can be achieved with certain cultivars. The same Italian team of researchers discovered two other novel cannabinoids, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabutol (THCB) and cannabidibutol (CBDB), earlier in the year. THCB may be useful for pain relief in mice, but is less potent than THCP.
