ABHA News and Events

Welcome to the New Year! Unfortunately, for many of our members we have had a devastating start to 2020 with many of us directly affected by the horrible bushfires burning their way through our iconic country. Our deepest sympathies go out to those who were directly affected.

The new year has been filled with numerous affiliates kick starting their 2020 with fast barrel racing, and great events. Rain is falling in many parts who desperately need it, allowing for a ground soaking which is good news for perfect ground loving barrel racers.

We have made an exciting announcement, locking in our National Finals dates which will run from the 14 – 19 September, finishing our presentation on the Saturday night. Stay tuned to our Facebook site for event information to be released.

We have an exciting report for you in this issue as we sit down with the 2019 National Finals Jnr 1D champ, Alishia Thomas and learn about her super horse Rugar and her plans for this season. We also had the chance to hear from Katina Matthews on the mental game of barrel racing, and I share one of the most fundamental barrel racing drills many of us use when training barrel racing horses. Our feature event re-cap this issue is the super special Barrels 4 A Cause which paid out a whopping $10,440, an incredible achievement for an affiliate.
