There are now hundreds of car clubs in the UK and these deal with the most obscure marks, and themes. One of the most unusual but wholly important is that of the Classic Hearse Register. The current chair Sandra Mitchell has run it since 2003 and along with her partner, they now have over 16 vehicles comprising of various hearses from different countries including Italy, Germany, Belgium and Ireland which is where this rare 1963 Ford Consul Cortina came from.

While the search was on for an Irish converted Mk1 Granada, Sandra had an email from Tipperary Raceway saying this rare hearse was for sale, a Consul Cortina. It was with an undertaker who wanted it saved and not banger raced this after having the ‘garage-find’ pictures posted on Facebook.
