A bay in the Black Sea was invaded by swarms of jellyfish recently creating an unusual natural display that was shared across social media. Images showed numerous jellyfish on the shores of Balaklava Bay. According to researcher at the A.O. Kovalevsky Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas, Boris Aninsky, the animals were likely transported to the bay by a south-easterly wind. Aninsky told reporters, “We have two types of jellyfish in the Black Sea... Those that have accumulated in Balaklava are Aurelia jellyfish.
