North Stradbroke Island

Welcome to the world’s second largest sand island, and one of Australia’s best-kept secrets, found right on the doorstep of Brisbane.

North Stradbroke Island, known as Minjerribah to the traditional custodians, the Quandamooka people, and affectionately called “Straddie” by locals, has an island vibe that is chilled, slow-paced and welcoming – the perfect antidote to city life.

Located in Moreton Bay, just a 50-minute car ferry journey or 25-minute water taxi journey from Cleveland (located 30 km southeast of Brisbane, Queensland), the island is blessed with beautiful white sand beaches and hidden inland lakes and waterways. Straddie is proud to be home to the best land-based Whale Watching in Queensland.
