INDIA OFFERS 2022 SOLUTION
India is expected to hold shooting and archery events under the Commonwealth Sport banner in 2022, concluding months of outrage over the exclusion of shooting from the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The proposed event still won’t be an official part of the Commonwealth Games. It is likely to take place in March 2022, four months before the Games proper, in either New Delhi or Chandigarh. However, medals won at the event will count towards the overall Commonwealth Games medal standings, and it will be recognised by the ISSF, meaning any world records shot there will be officially recognised too.
Though a final decision on the plans is not expected until 21 February, the ISSF – as well as World Archery – have already lent them their support. Britain’s sports minister, Nigel
