Le Corbusier’s ‘Modulor’ scale has had a lasting impact on architecture. As an anthropometric proportional system rooted in Alberti’s ‘Vitruvian Man,’ it projects a ‘harmonious’ range of postures around which space may be organised. However, in positing a singular version of universality it undermines the potential for egalitarian design.
