Resolving CONFLICTS
For most people, the term ‘conflict’ is not a pleasant one as it suggests difficult issues, even more difficult people, and confrontation. It is usually associated with protracted arguments, damaged egos and being ‘right’. However, this need not always be the case and properly understanding conflict and how it might be avoided or resolved is an important step in harmonious relationships, whether at a personal or corporate level.
What is conflict?
Simply put, it is active disagreement – but usually with an underlying base of opposition, discord and unpleasantness.mix, the results can be toxic and the fallout can last for years. Should lawyers and courts be engaged by either or both parties, the costs and emotional investment rise rapidly while the prospects for amicable resolution recede with equal speed.
