With global warming growing into a reality and more disease outbreaks than the meat industry can handle, it is no longer just a futuristic speculation but a living experience of heat waves, tornadoes, drought, floods with unexpected, unpredicted low and high daily temperatures. With this background and the real environment we live in, game meat could very well be the only answer in a sustainable, low carbon footprint industry producing an excellent protein food source to all South Africans.
Two routes are tabled in a way forward, for not only SA meat producers but also for global protein production in:
