Meet the people

David Macvay

David and his wife moved from Randfontein to Kathu five years ago to work at the mine. She works for a water purification company, and he used to work for an explosives company. “We’ve both always dreamt of owning our own business. So when I saw the opportunity to open the coffee shop, I resigned and put much of my pension money into it,” says David. The Daily opened recently so it’s too early to say how successful it’s going to be but, David says, so far so good.
