Angie Gallagher

Angie, a copywriter and poet from Johannesburg, came here a year ago in search of silence – and she found it. “I didn’t have a specific place in mind; I just knew I should live somewhere in the Karoo. In the end, Richmond was the only town where I could find a house to rent.” She has no regrets. “This is a fascinating place and the community has embraced me.” She had planned to stay for only six months but now she can’t imagine leaving. “That’s what they say happens to all the: the ‘’ [mouth] of Richmond has swallowed me too.”
